A new opportunity for a project to contribute to advancing the circular economy at the heart of the Mediterranean and beyond.

On 1 and 2 September 2022, the partners of the ENI CBC Med Programme project stand up! successfully conducted their kick-off meeting in Mallorca, marking the official launch of the project (full name: "Med Microfinance Support System for Circular Economy in the Mediterranean").

The project will address a number of challenges faced by the Mediterranean region, including: insufficient awareness, education, and knowledge generation on CE among society and public bodies; absence of dedicated CE finance schemes, instruments, and relevant skills; lack of incentives for CE; and current regulatory framework that generates barriers to CE. The project will target youth, women, and NEETs, who are often overlooked in current economic models, and will enable them to develop marketable skills and facilitate their entry into the workforce.

The project is structured around 5 work packages. These are:

1. Project Management: to ensure overall successful leadership, coordination, financial, and administrative management of the project.
2. Communication Activities: to promote the project, its activities, results, and impact across the Mediterranean area.
3. Capitalisation: to enhance visibility and impacts of ENI CBC MED projects dealing with social inclusion and circular economy.
4. CE Microfinance Support Scheme and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development: to improve the circular economy ecosystem in the Mediterranean and stimulate entrepreneurship among women, youth, and NEETs.
5. Pilot Sub-grant Scheme: to implement the CE microfinance Support Scheme through sub-grants that will provide financial and technical support to young people, women, and NEETs.

The stand up! project is financed by the European Union under the ENI CBC Med Programme. It has a total budget of 3.7 million euros and a duration of 30 months from September 2022 to February 2025. It is implemented by a consortium of 7 partners from 6 different countries:
